What is Dawson Creek about?
Dawson Leery (Van Der Beek) isn’t like the other boys he knows. A high school sophomore, Dawson is a true film enthusiast who dreams of becoming the next Spielberg. He’s an ambitious young filmmaker. Dawson had two close friends, Pacey (Jackson) and Joey (Holmes). They’re constantly bickering.
Pacey comes across as a witty, sarcastic, and somewhat lost young man. His biggest pleasure is teasing and annoying pretty girls. That’s why it’s no surprise that Joey, who comes from a poor family and has a sensitive, artistic soul, becomes one of his favorite targets.
Joey, meanwhile, is secretly in love with her childhood friend Dawson and only puts up with Pacey for Dawson’s sake. Also, since there isn’t much to do in the small coastal town of Capeside, helping Dawson with his latest film counts as the best form of entertainment, which keeps this mismatched trio together most of the time. However, their slow and ordinary lives are turned upside down with the arrival of Jen, the new girl who moves in next door to Dawson. Jen, played by five-time Oscar nominee Michelle Williams in her breakout role, instantly captivates Dawson and completely shifts the dynamic between the trio.
